Cargo Agent

Responsibilities 

• Notifying customers and consignees of the arrival of their shipment
• Check and tally and house cargo for proper piece count, weight, and documents as appropriate
• Report all interferences or tampering of freight /or observations of interferences or possible tampering of fright
• Load/unload air cargo from/to trucks 
• Prepare and palletize cargo as needed
• Assure proper handling and delivery of cargo and operation of related equipment
• Follow Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations
• Comply with Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
• Prepare airline and customs documentation
• Comply with company’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and policies
• Ensure paperwork is prepared timely and accurately
• Make sure paperwork related to the cargo is correct before release
• Assure proper compliance with local and international laws and regulations
• Follow Dangerous Goods Requirements and Regulations
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements 

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• General office operations skills
• Customer focus and quality awareness
• Must be able to work flexible working hours
• Willing to work in inclement weather conditions
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures or government regulations, documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine business correspondence and procedures manuals
• Ability to speak clearly, present information and effectively respond to questions from employees, customers, and the general public
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must also have the ability to make decisions and adjustments on short notice
• A valid drivers’ license would be an asset
