Junior Systems Engineer

The Junior Systems Engineer provides support to the organization by effectively analyzing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and enhancing complex systems or networks consisting of a combination that may include servers, mainframes, mini-computers, LANS, WANs. The Junior Systems Engineer does all above mentioned under direct supervision of the Systems Engineer and reports directly to the Systems Engineer. When the Systems Engineer is absent, the incumbent reports to the Head IT.
Responsibilities
  • Assists in providing day-to-day operational support for server, storage, or network infrastructures.
  • Builds, patches, tests (check for compatibility issues, conducts QA) and deploys systems and platforms aligned with organizational needs and specifications.
  • Supports the implementation of changes to infrastructure with the goal of enhancing performance.
  • Assists with storage and server data backup, data migration and disaster recovery operations.
  • Assists with software and operating system upgrades and track system licensing.
  • Assists with configuring security settings or access permissions for groups and individuals.
  • Provides technical support (help desk) to users related to network or platform performance by troubleshooting problems.
  • Documents procedures related to systems/networks software and hardware.
  • Maintains office and/or production software, adjunct support and/or utility software, i.e., Virus malware protection, office application suites and/or application software.
  • Identifies potential areas of product improvement and process efficiency.
  • Identifies and reports problems with specific processes or products to the Systems engineer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Work requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • At least two (3) years’ experience in a similar job.
  • Experience with using a variety of databases is a pre.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, and MS PowerPoint, in particular).Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
  • Works independently and within a team on projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • A Customer driven and flexible personality.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow directions.
  • Troubleshooting/Analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Dutch, English and Papiamentu.
