Manager Cash Processing Unit (CPU)

The incumbent is responsible for managing the Cash Processing Unit effectively and efficiently ensuring that the highest standards of customer service are maintained. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of the 24/7 customer deposits, the effective operations of the Vault area and the ATM’s. The incumbent’s actions should comply with the relevant policies and procedures of the Bank and the department. The incumbent must demonstrate good judgment resulting in protecting the Bank from reputational, operational and financial risk. The position requires the ability to maintain a high level of discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information and the ability to establish priorities.
Key Accountabilities

Is responsible for increasing efficiency within the department by:

  • Planning activities, delegating work to and coordinating work of subordinates.
  • Creating an environment of continuous improvement by assisting and supporting his/her staff in achieving their result goals.
  • Evaluating and improving department procedures.
  • Clearly communicating expectations and holding employees accountable of results.
  • Motivating direct subordinates to increase and maintain accuracy at all times.
  • Ensuring that customers are provided with clear, relevant information.
  • Ensuring General Manager Processing Support Centre/ Management is kept informed as to the important events occurring in the Central Counting Room, Vault and ATM Operations.
  • Taking full responsibility for all customer enquiries/concerns/complaints and resolving those matters to the customer satisfaction and in a timely manner.
  • Promoting goodwill between customers and the bank.

Is responsible for proper human resource management within the department by:

  • Coaching and motivating direct subordinates to conduct their work to increase the productivity of the department and maintaining accuracy at all times.
  • Ensuring subordinates perform their jobs in adherence with their job description & Bank policies and procedures.
  • Providing leadership by motivating subordinates and promoting teamwork.
  • Monitoring the training needs of subordinates and by giving follow-up to the training needs.
  • Preparing job descriptions conform policies and by seeing to it that the job descriptions are updated on a regular basis.
  • Conducting the Performance and Development Planning Scorecard of direct subordinates conform policies and procedures.
  • Holding job performance interviews with subordinates regularly.
  • Conducting a cross training program within the areas (in order to increase flexibility and availability of staff during absenteeism, sick leave, vacation).

Is responsible for the coordination of the overall operation and administration of the department by:

  • Ensuring that all 24/7 customer deposit bags are registered in Depo-tracker.
  • Ensuring the timely and accurate processing of the 24/7 customer deposits.
  • Assisting with lock up procedures and monthly surprise counts.
  • Ensuring proper and timely handling of the excess cash supply of the vault to minimize any security risk.
  • Ensuring that the unsorted cash is being kept to a minimum daily.
  • Ensuring adequate supply of local and foreign currency cash at all times for the branches and ATM’s according to the cash holding limits.
  • Ensuring that money transportation is handled according to security standards and that the moneybags are properly sealed or locked.
  • Ensuring that cash specification is prepared one day in advance.
  • Preparing and analyzing the monthly department’s volume reports.
  • Preparing and analyzing the profit plan and department’s budget yearly.
  • Ensuring all outstanding items on department suspense accounts are monitored and cleared in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all transactions ≥ NAF 100.000 are reported to FIU timely.
  • Reporting any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity to Group Compliance as soon as it becomes aware of it in conjunction with the Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering Guidelines.
  • Ensuring appropriate internal controls are properly maintained and observed.
  • Developing and maintaining a sound knowledge and understanding of the AML policies and procedures

Is responsible for the operation of the ATM’s by:

  • Ensuring daily monitoring of the ATM’s cash position and operation.
  • Ensuring adequate supply of local and foreign currency cash at all times for the ATM’s.
  • Ensuring that cash order for replenishing of the ATM’s are prepared timely.
  • Ensuring that ATM’s are replenished timely.
  • Ensuring that all ATM’s are balanced and reconciled daily.
  • Ensuring that the Bonaire ATM’s are balanced and reconciled daily.
  • Assisting with the operation and administration of the ATM after working hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Reporting any deficiency in and around the ATM which is related to damage equipment, missing signs, etc.
  • Maintain proper custody of passwords, combinations to safes, ATM machines and assigned keys.

 

Skills, knowledge and experience requirements 
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ banking experience and 3 years’ experience in a supervisory position.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Proven high level of accuracy and attention to details.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills and mindset.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with MS Office programs. Sound understanding and/or experience with databases is essential.
  • Excellent time management skills including the ability to plan, set priorities and to meet deadlines, with flexibility to alter priorities to meet changing demands.
  • Discreet and customer-oriented.
  • Thorough knowledge of client service.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English.
  • Strong knowledge of Bank’s products and services.
